POSSIBLE ALCOHOL POISONING, DEATH LAST NIGHT AT INDIGO
State College, Pa., Apr. 24 – An Indigo customer was taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center last night after falling and hitting her head on the dance floor. She was pronounced dead at 3:21 a.m.
“All of us at Hotel State College are expressing our deepest sympathies to the victim, her family and friends,” Hotel State College CEO, Mike Desmond said. “This is an unfortunate situation and we plan to do everything in our power to prevent something as tragic as this from ever happening again.”
Rebecca Black, a 21-year old senior at Penn State, arrived at Indigo around 10 p.m. with a small group of friends. Around 12:30 a.m. Black allegedly fell down the stairs near the dance floor, hit her head and began profusely bleeding. Staff at Indigo took immediate action and called emergency personnel around 12:35 a.m.
At this time, Hotel State College does not have any information regarding Black’s cause of death or her Blood Alcohol Content at the time of the incident.
Indigo and all Hotel State College establishments have strict policies on serving alcohol to visibly intoxicated persons. Anyone who appears to be visibly intoxicated is removed immediately by management. Additionally, all alcohol service staff and door personnel must complete the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board-sanctioned Responsible Alcohol Management Program (R.A.M.P.) every two years in order to work in any of our establishments.
Hotel State College is planning to investigate possible systems to monitor the amount of alcohol customers are drinking and improve the overall safety of every one of our bars and nightclubs.
